Here at The Photographic Angle we are very pleased to announce an exciting new venture with The Royal Photographic Society (RPS). On 22nd March 2013, RPS will be holding a day-long event at the Watershed in Bristol called Creative Photography and Commerce.
This is the first time such an event has been held in the South West and it is organised by The Royal Photographic Society in partnership with the University of the West of England and with the support of The Watershed and The Photographic Angle.[short]
Creative Photography & Commerce is designed to prepare photography students and to support early career photographers with advice to help them understand how they can commercialise their work and sustain a career in photography. Through a series of lectures by established photographers and leading industry professionals attendees will receive practical advice and tips and learn from their experiences. The lectures are open to everyone and tickets cost £25.
Lecturers include Chris Floyd, Rhea Thierstein, Olivia Gideon Thomson, Laura Pannack, Kate Peters and Toby Smith who will be discussing their work in the photographic industry and how the marriage of creativity and commerce works for them.
The lectures will be supported by portfolio reviews which are open to students and under 35s only.
Portfolio Reviewers include Clare Hewitt, Ben Roberts, Anthony Holland Parkin, Steve Ledger-Lomas, Angus Fraser, Roger Tooth, Thom Atkinson, Ashley Jouhar and Zoe Whishaw.
Tickets for both the lectures and the portfolio review cost £55 and anyone who is interested in this will need to contact RPS in advance to book a review slot.
