As we were brainstorming our next competition theme, we wanted to come up with something that would inspire you to be a little more creative with your photography, to see the world through different eyes, to question your approach and to venture outside of your comfort zone.
We also wanted to choose a theme that everybody could take part in and that was not limited to a certain genre of photography or a certain context or subject matter. We wanted to give you free reign to explore photography on your terms but to do so in a way that would stretch your imagination and challenge your abilities.
That's when we came up with the theme Unusual Everyday. We want to see photographs that depict your interpretation of this theme. They can be photographs that you already have as part of your portfolio or archive or photographs that you have set up and staged with this competition in mind. The options are endless and we really don't want to impose too many restraints, but in order to give you a better idea of how you may like to explore this theme, we have put together a list to help you get started and to spark some inspiration.
You may like to think about, but are not limited to, images of the following:
· Everyday objects or places taken from unusual angles or perspectives
· Unusual uses of everyday objects
· Everyday objects shot in unusual places
· Everyday activities done in an unusual way
· Something unusual that you might not see everyday
· Unusual activities taking place in everyday locations
The list really is endless, but hopefully this has given you something to think about and if you are still not feeling inspired, we have put together a small selection of images that may help to get your creative juices flowing.
