Creativity is a hard thing to define, but in essence it can be described as the ability to see the world in new ways, to transcend traditional rules and ideas, to seek out hidden patterns and relationships and to make connections between seemingly unrelated things. It involves imagination and originality in order to turn new ideas into reality.

Whilst photography is, and always has been, a method used to document reality, it is also a creative art form. Thanks to advances in modern technology, photographers now have at their disposal a great number of ways to manipulate that reality in order to show not what is, but what could be. Through clever use of camera settings, interesting choice of angles and post production editing techniques, photographers can have us believe in an altered sense of reality, one that may not in fact exist.

The images in this exhibition reflect a wide range of photographic subjects, however they all capture and celebrate the individual photographer’s personal creative flair. But art, by its very nature is subjective. What is deemed to be art is very much guided by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions. Some of the images seen here are thought-provoking and may challenge our preconceived ideas of what constitutes a photographic image.
