These images demonstrate technical competence and aesthetic judgement. A range of post production techniques will have been used to strengthen aspects of the images. Some of the submissions will be visually attractive, rather than serene.

Competition Comments

The Photographic Angle was delighted to receive over 370 entries to our third international photographic competition, entitled Serenity. The competitionís title inspired photographers to submit a range of subjects, particularly landscapes taken both locally and in exotic locations.

Each image was assessed on its technical competence, aesthetic judgement, and its depiction of the competitionís theme.

Some photographers chose to submit images with their human subjects conveying a sense of serenity, others let their scene speak for itself. By using the measure of whether the photograph generated a feeling of serenity to the viewer it was possible to assess the images from a similar standpoint.
