Portrait Of An Instagram Artist

Posted by Stacey on: 10th Oct 2012

We came across this funny little clip whilst reading the latest issue of the Reflex Camera Club Newsletter. As it is a wet and dreary day here in Devon, and might be where you are too, we thought you might need something to cheer you up and make your Wednesday a little easier to cope with.

Where do you stand on the instagram/hipstamatic/iphoneography debate? If you missed the Italian Vogue interview with the head of established agency Magnum and Instagram's founder as they went head-to-head chase it up here, however, be wary of the dodgy translation all ye who enter....

Our Voices exhibition in collaboration with PhotoVoice is currently making its way around the country. It has already been to Greenford and Slough and this week it is in London before continuing its tour through Crawley, Bristol and Uxbridge. PhotoVoice is an important charity organisation that is doing some really great work helping to build skills within disadvantaged and marginalised communities using innovative participatory photography and digital storytelling methods. TPA teamed up with PhotoVoice in order to help them spread their message further and make the voices of those they work with heard even further afield. We caught up with Matt Daw, Projects Manager at PhotoVoice, to find out more about the work that the charity does, his role and how participatory photography is helping improve people's lives.…

For a while now, TPA Communications Manager Antony has been working hard to build relationships with local camera clubs around the country. Many of them have accepted our invitations to join us at the various venues we exhibit in for a guided tour of our current exhibitions and a chat with Antony about the work that we do here at TPA.

One such club is Chalfonts and Gerrards Cross Camera Club, which is based in Gerrards Cross, near Uxbridge. Having visited a number of our exhibitions now, we decided it was a good time for us (and you) to find out more about the club, so we contacted James Torr, Club Chairman, and put him in the hotseat.…

Friday Link Love

Posted by Stacey on: 28th Sep 2012

As we enter a slightly quieter period here at TPA - we only have one or two exhibitions running per week throughout October - we have been working hard to get some interesting content lined up for the blog. We have been speaking to some of the photographers whose work is currently being exhibited in our touring galleries, finding out more about their work and their inspiration. We have also been speaking to some professional photographers who make a living from their photography and finding out how they got to where they are today and what the highlights of their careers have been so far. We have also been speaking to more members of the TPA team and finding out what makes them tick. So keep your eyes peeled for some interesting content in the coming weeks. We are also looking for some guest bloggers who may be interested in contributing on a regular basis, so if you know of anyone please do get in touch, we'd love to hear your ideas. In the meantime though, please check out our weekly list of interesting photography links that we have scoured the net to bring you. Enjoy and happy weekend!

Interview: Change Competition Judge Ann Miles

Posted by Stacey on: 21st Sep 2012

Ann Miles

Ann Miles

Earlier this month, CHANGE, our latest competition in the Foot Prints theme, opened for submissions. This competition is a creative challenge to all photographers, to see whether they can successfully capture environmental change in one photograph. We are on the look out for for photographs that depict the effect that all forms of life are having on the planet on which we live, whether these are changes for good or for bad.

The deadline for the competition is the 30th September when submissions will no longer be accepted. Once we have all the entries in, we will draw up a short list, which will then be put to our judge for final consideration. For this competition, our judge is photographer and lecturer Ann Miles. We thought you might like to find out a little bit more about Ann so we asked her to take part in a short interview.…
